BRIEF: Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce raises thousands at annual dinner and auction
Mar 05, 2013 (The Oregonian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce raised between $15,000 and $20,000 at its 26th Annual Dinner & Auction Saturday evening, according to preliminary estimates.
Nearly 150 people attended the event at Pacific University, bidding on items that ranged from Trail Blazers tickets to week-long getaways.
Ray Giasante, interim executive director for the Chamber, said the fundraiser netted about $5,000 more than last year. He did not have specific numbers available at this point.
The Chamber also raised more than $4,000 for a new computer system during a special portion of the auction.
"I think that it went very, very well," Giasante said. "It looks like we got what we needed for our computer system."
Local residents and businesses, many of them Chamber members, donated items for the auction. The proceeds will go toward daily operations of the Chamber, which provides business resources such as networking and promotion.
