BRIEF: United Way of El Paso to host tax self-preparation session on Saturday
Mar 07, 2013 (El Paso Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
United Way of El Paso County will host a self-preparation session for taxpayers on Saturday at the El Paso Public Library, Richard Burges Branch.
The event, at 9600 Dyer, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. IRS-certified volunteers will be available to answer questions, and laptops and printers will be available for individuals to prepare their taxes.
Qualified individuals earning $57,000 or less a year may file their taxes free online at MyFreeTaxes.com/ep. Individuals without Internet access and those who would like assistance from an IRS-certified volunteer may come to the session to file their taxes free.
"We realize that those eager to receive their tax returns often go to the first tax preparer they find," said Deborah A. Zuloaga, CEO of the United Way of El Paso County. "They are losing part of their return in fees when they can use MyFreeTaxes.com/ep and keep 100 percent of their hard-earned money."
