BRIEF: Knoxville man charged in armed robbery

Mar 07, 2013 (The Frederick News-Post - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police have charged a Knoxville man with robbing a woman at gunpoint along a walking path in Frederick.

Reginald Keith Myers Jr., 23, of the 200 block of Knoxville Road, is charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, theft, reckless endangerment and carrying a handgun in connection with a robbery Tuesday afternoon in the area of Brookside Apartments.

Myers was served a warrant Wednesday at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he was being held on gun charges after he was arrested late Tuesday by Maryland State Police following a traffic stop.

Police said Myers saw the woman -- who said she knew him -- and her friend at Hard Times Cafe on West Patrick Street. After offering to walk with the women to the nearby Motel 6 and suggesting they take a walking path, Myers stopped and put a gun to the woman's head, according to charging documents filed in Frederick County District Court.

Myers ordered the woman to undress, and he went through her clothes and stole money and her cellphone, police said.

Myers is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail in the robbery case and $150,000 on the gun charges, which include possessing a stolen firearm.
