An International Women's Day Moment of Reflection

Canadian Women Speak Out About the Power of Education
As the world marks this 102(nd) International Women's Day, Plan Canada shares some collective
reflection from Canadian women about how having an education shaped who
they are as people today and about the meaning and importance of an
education in every girl's life.
An education is key to transforming lives and supporting a generation of
empowered women, mothers, workers and leaders, and yet, according to
Plan's research, 66 million girls do not attend primary and secondary
school in the poorest countries of the world. More specifically, in
developing countries, girls are often forced to leave school at the age
of 14 to take on household chores, to get married, or simply because
their parents cannot afford to pay for their school fees.
