East Knoxville man shot during a home invasion
KNOXVILLE, Mar 09, 2013 (The Knoxville News-Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
An East Knoxville man shot during a home invasion Thursday night at his home remained in stable condition today, officials said.
William Feaster, 42, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after he was shot in the back, officials said.
Knoxville Police Department officers responded Thursday at 7:45 p.m. to a house in the 1800 block of Woodbine Ave. where two men had forced their way through the front door and robbed three people inside, according to KPD Sgt. Jason Keck.
When a man in the house ran to hide in a bedroom, one of the gunmen pulled him out and in an ensuing struggle the man's gun was fired at least twice, Keck said.
The victim was shot in the back with a .22 caliber bullet, Keck said.
Keck said one of the men continued to demand money from the woman. When the man told her to give him everything, she emptied several medicine bottles into his hands, Keck said.
When the man then demanded "the big money" and became agitated, the woman showed him an overdue utility bill as evidence and the men left, Keck said.
Both men were described as being in their early 20s, dressed in black with hooded sweatshirts. One man wore a small black mask over his face.
One man was described as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with an average build. The other was about 6 feet tall and thin.
