Toshiba's Premier CT System Helps Diagnose Cardiac Disease Faster and Safer
SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--
With the ability to capture the entire heart in a single rotation, the
AquilionTM ONE ViSION Edition from Toshiba (News - Alert) America Medical
Systems, Inc. helps improve cardiac diagnoses. The system offers a
simplified low dose exam, and when combined with Vital Images' CT
Myocardial Analysis software, provides clinicians with images of both
cardiac anatomy and function for improved diagnoses of cardiac ischemia.
Aquilion ONE ViSION Edition offers a gantry rotation of 0.275 seconds
and 320 detector rows (640 unique slices) covering 16 cm in a single
rotation, with the industry's thinnest slices, 500 microns (0.5 mm). The
system also includes Toshiba's third-generation iterative dose
reconstruction software, AIDR 3D, which incorporates system enhancements
that significantly reduce radiation dose compared with conventional
scanning.
In a recent
study conducted by the National Institutes of Health, analysis of
data on 107 patients undergoing heart scans found that the average
radiation dose was 0.93 mSv using Aquilion ONE ViSION Edition. Image
quality was also greatly improved.
"Aquilion ONE ViSION Ediion helps diagnose cardiac disease faster and
more accurately, with the ability to image the entire heart in one
heartbeat," said Satrajit Misra, senior director, CT Business Unit,
Toshiba. "With its 78 cm bore and fast rotation, the system can
accommodate more patients, including bariatric and patients with high
heart rates."
Toshiba is highlighting the Aquilion ONE ViSION Edition and CT
Myocardial Analysis at this year's American College of Cardiology (ACC)
annual meeting in San Francisco, March 9 - 11, 2013 (Booth #5733, North
Hall).
