District accepting VPK applications for fall 2013

PANAMA CITY, Mar 09, 2013 (The News Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Bay District Schools will begin accepting applications for the voluntary pre-kindergarten (VPK) program Monday at 7:30 a.m.

No application information will be accepted before that time and all applications will be taken online.

The BDS website for VPK, www.bay.k12.fl.us/prek, will have 24 hour access. Parents who do not have Internet access at home may ask for assistance at schools or public libraries. Parents who cannot get access to the Internet may apply by calling 767-4201 or 767-4358 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Openings are limited.


Bay District Schools will offer pre-kindergarten services at 18 school sites; J.R. Arnold High School, Deane Bozeman School, Deer Point, Callaway, Cedar Grove, Merriam Cherry Street, Hiland Park, Lucille Moore, Lynn Haven, Northside, Oakland Terrace, Parker, Oscar Patterson, Southport, Springfield, Tommy Smith, Tyndall and Waller elementary schools.

Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1. Bay District Schools offers the choice of the free VPK morning program (8-11 a.m.) or a combination of the free VPK morning program plus a fee of $55 per week to add the afternoon program.
