The Bangalore-based Mobile Payment Solution company Ezetap was established in 2011 by Abhijit Bose (CEO), Bhakta Kesavachar (CTO) and Sanjay Swamy (Chairman), The plan to launch the MPOS project was first declared in last January and it will target at certain merchant retail stores in Kenya.
Equity Bank will form close ties with the selected retailers in the pilot project in order to train sales personnel on the proper utilization of the MPOS technology.
Regarding Ezetap s product, the company delivers a Mobile Point of Sale (MPOS) solution which facilitates convert devices, such as feature phones, smartphones and tablets, into POS terminals, via connecting the Ezetap Card-Reader to the headphone jack of the gadgets.
Besides, the company provides an adjustable mobile app compatible with feature phones as well as smart gadgets. The solution is in compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCIDSS) and the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PADSS) global security standards.
The firm states that it has developed as well as formed the Ezetap Card-Reader in the country and the device is well-matched with feature phones like Nokia S40 and smartphones using Android, iOS and Windows Mobile operating systems, and is able to take electronic signatures, as a result removing necessity for paper receipts.
Ezetap costs Rs 1,500 in India, but its price in the Kenyan market is still not known.
