BRIEF: McAlester man set for trial on assault charge

MCALESTER, Mar 09, 2013 (McAlester News-Capital - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A McAlester man is set to go to trial this week to face a charge of domestic abuse assault and battery.

Jason Heith Kidwell, 36, was first charged in October 2012 for allegedly striking a woman in the nose with his fist. He is set to face a jury on the charge Thursday in Pittsburg County District Court before District Judge Thomas Bartheld.


According to court records, a woman with blood all over her face walked into the McAlester police station on Oct. 4, 2012. "Her nose appeared to be broken," according to court records. The woman, and a second witness to the incident, allegedly told police that Kidwell punched the woman in the face and broke her nose, according to court records.

If convcited, Kidwell is facing up to four years in prison. According to court records, Kidwell is also set to go to trial on a burglary charge in May.
