Mantec receives nonprofit innovation award

For Mantec, a recent award win means celebration and an opportunity to serve business clients in different ways, said Fred Botterbusch, the organization''s director of operations.
Mantec received a 2013 management operations award and $2,000 during the 14th annual Nonprofit Innovation Awards breakfast held Thursday at the Valencia Ballroom in York City by the Central Penn Business Journal.
The Nonprofit Innovation Awards recognizes organizations'' contributions to the local economy and their efforts to provide a network of support to people in need, said David A. Schankweiler, chief executive officer of Journal Multimedia, parent company to Central Penn Business Journal.
"Rarely do nonprofits in our communities get the recognition they deserve ... for making available the beauty of music, theater and the arts, and for providing the resources and assistance to prepare our region for challenges, growth and change," he said.
Mantec, based in the city, provides manufacturers with customized solutions to improve their results in productivity, profitability and competitiveness.
Mantec serves small and medium-sized businesses in southcentral Pennsylvania, Botterbusch said. It was the only York-based organization to receive a Nonprofit Innovations Award this year, according to a news release from Central Penn Business Journal.
Bell Socialization Services Inc., DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre, Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania, York Art Association and the York County Food Bank, were all finalists for Nonprofit Innovations Awards in various categories.
Botterbusch said Mantec officials and staff will celebrate their win. They also will decide how to best use the award money, he said.
"It would help us bring some new opportunities to our clients," Botterbusch said. "We want to do something we wouldn''t have been able to do otherwise to benefit our clients."
