BRIEF: Video assistant in final four of Cubs' bunting tourney
MESA, Ariz., Mar 10, 2013 (Chicago Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The Chicago Cubs' second annual bunting tournament ends Sunday, and the players will be out in force for the semifinals and championship round.
The semis will pit defending champion David DeJesus against Edwin Maysonet, and Edwin Jackson against Nate Halm, the Cubs' video and advance scouting assistant.
"He could use the money," Sveum said of Halm.
But wouldn't it look kind of silly if the 62 players in Cubs camp all lost to a video technician
"Oh, c'mon," Sveum protested. "Oh, we're really worried about that ... He's a professional player. He played overseas, and in college."
Halm played at Miami of Ohio, and professionally in Munich, the Cubs said. He was a last-minute replacement in the bunt-off for the final spot in the 64-man field, winning the 16-man bracket that included Cubs President Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer.
