V8 Supercars launches web TV service

David Malone, CEO of V8 Supercars Australia, says it will soon start charging for the web broadcasts of races in its championship. A free trial attracting some 21,000 users has been completed for the Clipsal 500 event in Adelaide, with another scheduled for during the Tasmania 360 on 6 April 2013. The following week's race in Auckland will then be the first to feature a fee to watch over the internet. V8 Supercars had separated the digital rights from its recent TV broadcasting deal with free-to-air group Seven West Media.
