Seven, Ten open with new ball

Formal bids for free-to-air TV rights for cricket were lodged by Ten Network and Seven West Media on 7 March 2013. Nine Network's seven-year, $A315 million deal with Cricket Australia ends after the summer of 2013-14. Nine is expected to retain the rights and has a long connection with cricket. The auction is for all media rights, including online and mobile telephone.
