Awards
It Make$ Cents!, a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse financial literacy program, was awarded the 2012 Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award by Gov. Scott Walker in a ceremony March 1 at the state Capitol in Madison. The UW-La Crosse program was one of 21 recipients of the award, which was given by the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy. It Make$ Cents! reaches out to students in a multitude of ways, from one-on-one counseling and outreach tables to social media. The goal is to give students the resources they need to make wise choices about their personal finances.
Scholarships
Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa, has released the winners of the Presidential and Trustee Scholarships for 2012-13. Receiving these prestigious scholarships are:
Grace Onsrud of La Crosse received a Trustee Scholarship in the amount of $17,000.
Logan Adams of Onalaska received a Presidential Scholarship in the amount of $14,000.
Monica Rohe of Onalaska received a Trustee Scholarship in the amount of $17,000.
