Lenovo Group (0992.HK) refutes rumored acquisition of BlackBerry
BEIJING, Mar 12, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's biggest PC maker Lenovo Group
(00992.HK; LNVGY.PK) on Tuesday denied market rumors that the PC
giant would take over BlackBerry (BBRY.Nasdaq).
A media report went earlier that the Lenovo Group might acquire a
Canadian smart phone maker, quoting Yang Yuanqing, CEO of the PC
giant.
Market reckoned the Canadian smart phone marker was the
BlackBerry, pushing up share price of BlackBerry by 14.09 percent on
Monday.
Lenovo Group's public relations official said that the company
would not disclose such information ahead of time if it did intend to
conduct any takeover action, which would only drive up share price of
the target company and increase Lenovo's acquisition cost
