GEICO names Shawn Burklin to board of directors
SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)--
Shawn Burklin of San Diego, Calif., has been named to the board of
directors of the GEICO
companies. Burklin has served as regional vice president of GEICO's West
Coast operations since 2010.
"Shawn has shown he has the problem-solving skills and creativity to
successfully lead a major regional operation," said Tony Nicely, GEICO
chairman. "Those abilities will also make him a valuable contributor as
a member of the board."
Burklin began his GEICO career in 1995 in the claims department in the
company's Fredericksburg, Va., regional office, and soon afterward
entered the company's executive management program. In 1997 his legal
background led to his assignment as a claims attorney and by 2000 he was
named managing senior attorney.
Burklin went on to serve as assistant vice president of claims for
GEICO's Lakeland, Fla., regional office before being named vice
president of corporate claims in 2007. Burklin became vice president of
GEICO's Southeast operations in 2008 before taking his current position
t the company's San Diego, Calif., regional office.
Burklin holds an undergraduate degree from Eckerd College in Florida and
earned a juris doctor degree from the University of Florida.
