Sneak Preview: New NCQA Program Extending Medical Home Concepts Beyond Primary Care

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) will host a preview briefing about NCQA Patient-Centered Specialty Practice (PCSP) Recognition, a new evaluation program launching March 25, that extends principles of the patient-centered medical home to specialties besides primary care.

PCSP is modeled on NCQA's Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition program, the most widely adopted medical home model in the country. Under PCSP, specialty practices committed to access, communication and care coordination can earn accolades as the "neighbors" that surround and inform the medical home and colleagues in primary care.

WHEN: Thursday, March 21, 2013, 9:30-10:30 a.m. EDT

WHO: This briefing is open to journalists and others who are interested in integration and communication across the health care delivery system.

NCQA President Margaret E. O'Kane will summarize the PCSP program.

Guest speakers who advised NCQA on PCPS's design and are themselves innovators in these areas will share their perspectives. Confirmed speakers include:

• Carol Greenlee, MD, Endocrinologist, Counsel of Subspecialty Societies for the American College of Physicians (ACP) and Co-chair of the ACP PCMH-Neighbor Work Group
