BRIEF: Dayton VA names new COO

The Dayton VA Medical Center has named Mark Murdock associate director, effective March 10.
Murdock, 52, had been the medical center's assistant director since September 2010. He will assume responsibilities equivalent to those of a chief operating officer, overseeing the the operational functions that support a wide range of services at the hospital.
The Dayton VA is a state-of-the-art teaching facility that has been serving veterans for 146 years, providing a full range of health care through medical, surgical, mental health, home and community health programs, geriatric, physical medicine and therapy services, neurology, oncology, dentistry, and hospice.
The facility houses 507 operating beds, including 265 nursing home, 127 acute care, and 115 mental health rehabilitation treatment program beds.
Before joining the hospital, Murdock was regional manager for Philadelphia-based Aramark Inc., a large provider of medical support services. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1999 after serving in key management health care positions.
