BRIEF: Miramar appoints Ray Black as new police chief

Ray Black is the city's new chief of police, after long-time police chief Keith Dunn retired.
Black, formerly the assistant police chief, began his career with the Miramar Police Department as a police explorer in 1977. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division.
After completing his service, he returned to the Miramar Police Department and has served in patrol, criminal investigations, internal affairs, accreditation, special operations and various assignments.
Dunn was raised in Miramar and served in the Miramar police department for 33 years. He was one of the police department's first cadets and was appointed at the agency's first school resource officer. He became the police chief in 2009.
