The machine on which the Tanaiste might receive such a fax to his home cost the taxpayer a scandalous EUR 1,351.
It is outrageous ministers and their private secretaries have run up mobile phone bills totalling EUR 174,518.
The taxpayer is also footing the bill for printers, fax machines and shredders.
The figures show that 26 staff in the Taoiseach's Department have mobile phones at the public's expense. It is clear from the costs that ministers and their officials are buying top-of-the-range equipment.
iPhones and iPads are the order of the day with the bills being sent to the taxpayer and spending EUR 1,351 on a fax for Eamon Gilmore's home is exorbitant.
The out-of-touch Labour leader should remember that a single unemployed person is expected to keep themselves alive for seven weeks on EUR 49 less than that sum.
The Taoiseach and his ministers constantly remind the public the country is still in receivership.
They expect public servants to take swingeing cuts to their wages and allowances while they buy themselves the best of everything.
It took the previous Government 14 years to lose touch with the people but Fine Gael and Labour have managed it in 24 months.
When disabled people are being deprived of their mobility allowance it is outrageous that pampered politicians are blowing public money on top-of-the-range telecoms equipment.
