BRIEF: Manatee man robbed at gunpoint

Mar 16, 2013 (The Bradenton Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A man was robbed when two armed suspects entered his home Friday afternoon, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a news release, the victim answered his doorbell at his home in the 5000 block of Second Avenue Drive N.W. at about 4:10 p.m. to find two armed men, who pointed a black semi-automatic handgun in his face and ordered him to the floor.

The suspects entered the home and took a PlayStation 3 game system and a lock box containing an unknown amount of cash.

The suspects left the house, getting into a small dark green SUV driven by an unknown female which fled in an unknown direction, the release said.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Task Force gathered leads at the scene. One suspect, Aaron Schroder, 27, of Sarasota, was located at his home but fled on foot when police arrived. K-9 Chico and his handler gave chase. After a few hundred yards, Schroder jumped on top of a vehicle and surrendered.

The other suspects, a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, were identified and arrested without incident, the news release said.
