TeleCommunication Systems Gets Incremental Funding to Roll Out Communications Systems Support for U.S. Marine Corps [Professional Services Close - Up]
(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS), a company focusing on secure mobile communication technology, announced that it has been awarded $16.1 million in incremental funding to provide the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) with Deployed Engineering Services for its Wireless Point to Point Link (WPPL) systems and commercialization effort in theater.
According to a release, the U.S. Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (PM WIN-T) Commercial Satellite Terminal Program is managing these procurements through the Army's $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle.
-TCS Deployed Engineering Services to the USMC consists of providing engineers with specific skill sets to assist USMC vital operations in technical control facilities and data/security centers, as well as with tactical USMC systems.
-TCS Professional and Technical Services (PTS), which includes Deployed Engineering Services, harnesses more than 20 years of experience in serving customers worldwide. Combining satellite, wireless and network engineering services with in-theater facilities and staff, TCS PTS quickly and cost-effectively supplement the military's support requirements in the installation and maintenance of communications networks around the globe.
-As part of the TCS TotalCom portfolio, the WPPL system provides secure point-to-point and point-to-multipoint, line-of-sight and non- line-of-sight transmission of voice, video and data communications.
-WPPL enables the USMC to close the gap on the "last digital mile," pushing data services to the network edge using a low-cost alternative to more expensive beyond-line-of-sight satellite communications.
Michael Bristol, senior vice president and general manager of Government Solutions, TCS, said: "While it's imperative that the USMC has secure, reliable and easily deployable communications equipment, that's only half the battle. They also need the expertise backing that equipment, and that's where TCS' knowledgeable and reliable Deployed Engineering Services personnel come in. We look forward to helping the USMC continue their important missions and achieve success."
