BRIEF: Laptop sale ends in robbery
Mar 17, 2013 (The Wisconsin State Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
An appointment to meet two strangers in a bank parking lot on a Saturday night to effect the sale of a laptop computer turned into an armed robbery, Madison police and witnesses report.
A 17-year-old laptop seller and his father arrived at University Avenue and Midvale Boulevard at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, to meet, they thought, the buyer of a laptop he was selling via the online service of Craig's List.
Instead, two young white men showed up, and a fight started when they tried to take the laptop, a witness reported. The witness told the Wisconsin State Journal he and his girlfriend were walking in the area, saw the fight and interceded. The two "buyers" grabbed the laptop and got into their car, a gold Cadillac. One of the two took out a handgun and pointed it at the others, the witness said.
The two suspects got the laptop, and the seller was not injured, police reported.
