Renesas Electronics America to Showcase Power Solutions Enabling the Smart Society at APEC 2013

Renesas Electronics America Inc., a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, will showcase several of its power technologies at the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), March 17-21, taking place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. Demonstrations in booth #608 will highlight the company's power solutions portfolio designed to enable a Smart Society. These include microcontroller (MCU)-based solutions optimized for applications such as industrial, power supply, lighting, and home appliances.

Renesas Product and Technology Demonstrations

• Scalable 3 Phase AC Motor Drive Platform: This interactive demo will showcase a complete, scalable, AC/BLDC motor drive hardware + software evaluation platform with a front end dual interleaved AC-DC PFC stage, and a 3 phase inverter bridge, implemented by high efficiency IGBTs and FRDs. A high performance 32-bit MU (RX62T) enables implementation of algorithms for high efficiency motor drives in applications such as air-conditioners, and industrial motor drives by providing a complete proven system solution
• Thin Wafer IGBT with 70µm Thickness: The newest IGBTs from Renesas will be on display. These are based on the enhanced Thin Wafer trench HiGT (High conductivity IGBT) technology enabling high efficiency solutions in industrial applications such as motor drives and solar inverters.
• 120V to 24V AC: AC Converter: This demonstration will showcase a compact reference design with fault protection to meet output voltage 24VAC with 2A(rms) continuous output current for building automation applications such as emergency lighting and irrigation systems.
• Renesas will also be showcasing its innovative optical image stabilization solution and its award-winning near field communication (NFC) charger
