A 26-year-old Sarasota man is in the Manatee County jail on a charge of armed home invasion robbery.
Aaron D. Schroder, who lists his address as the 7300 block of Phillip Street, Sarasota, was charged in connection with the armed home invasion at 4 p.m. Friday in the 5700 block of Second Avenue Drive Northwest in Bradenton, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.
The victim told deputies he was inside his home when he heard his doorbell ring.
As he unlocked the front door, it was forcefully pulled open by a man who the victim later said was a person he knew named Aaron Schroder, according to the report.
The victim told deputies the intruder was armed with a black, semi-auto handgun and pushed him to the ground. The intruder was accompanied by two juveniles, the report states.
One of the juveniles placed a gun to the victim's head while Schroder searched the residence, according to the report.
Deputies say Schroder then disconnected a Playstation game console from the living room TV and removed a safe containing cash and documentation from the victim's bedroom.
The three suspects then exited the home and fled in a small, green, SUV-type vehicle, leaving the victim on the floor of his home, according to the report.
The victim raced out the back door of his residence to his neighbor's home where he called a family member and law enforcement, the report states.
The green SUV was stopped after it was seen leaving Schroder's residence and the codefendant juveniles were arrested and confirmed Schroder being at the residence, according to the report.
Schroder began to run when deputies approached his Sarasota residence and, after a brief chase, Schroder surrendered to a K9 deputy, the report states,
Schroder is being held without bond due to several probation violations, according to the sheriff's office website.
