Cargolux to fly twice-weekly from DFW to Luxembourg
Mar 21, 2013 (AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION via COMTEX) --
European cargo carrier Cargolux Airlines International SA said it will launch its first freighter flight connecting Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Luxembourg.
The twice-weekly operation will be operated with Cargolux's new Boeing (NYSE: BA) 747-8 freighters.
Cargolux said that the new service is routed from Luxembourg to Baku, Azerbaijan and then Hong Kong and on to DFW Airport.
The round-the-world flight returns to Luxembourg after touching down at DFW on Wednesdays. The second weekly flight will operate on Saturdays starting March 23, and is routed via Mexico.
Cargolux said that the service offers increased network reach to customers and expands the airline's Trans-Pacific services and meets the growing demand for electronic components and IT-related commodities from Asia to Texas.
Located halfway between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, DFW International Airport is the world's fourth busiest, offering 1,900 flights per day and serving 58m passengers a year.
