San Diego Tourism Marketing District Issues Statement Regarding Tentative Ruling
SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)--
San Diego Tourism Marketing District Chairman Terry Brown issued a
statement this afternoon subsequent to Judge Taylor's tentative ruling
issued this morning, March 21, 2013:
"The Court's tentative ruling was clear that it is within the City
Council's authority to adopt a resolution that directs the Mayor to sign
the contract. The Council unanimously voted toapprove a Settlement
Agreement, which the City Attorney filed in Court, stating that the
Council did so with its November 26, 2012 approval of the TMD Assessment
and Operating Agreement. The Court is directing the Council to reaffirm
this point.
"We are disappointed that the Court did not bring this quickly to a
close, but the Court has outlined the path forward and we are hopeful
the Council will act as soon as possible to resolve this issue. It is
important that the thousands of men and women who work in the tourism
industry can continue to generate the hundreds of millions of dollars of
economic benefit that visitors bring to our economy."
