BRIEF: Coble's office returns $74,307 -- and 29 cents! -- to Washington

Here's a shocker: U.S. Rep. Howard Coble is stingy with the taxpayers' dough.
For the 28th straight year, the 6th District Republican didn't use all the money allotted for office expenses.
In 2012, he sent back to Washington $74,307.29.
Yes, his office noted the 29 cents.
"I am very proud that we operate our congressional offices the same way our constituents have to manage their own family budgets," the renowned penny-pincher said in a press release.
Coble has a staff of 16 people who work in Greensboro, Washington, and towns in other counties he represents. Last year, his budget was $1.36 million.
If you calculate unspent office-running money over 28 years -- and Coble's office did just that -- you get $1,751,003.58. Not an unsubstantial amount of money.
