Man recovers lost phone after two years
Mar 22, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Some phones survive falls, water damage and even being run over.
Bill Brindle's phone survived two years in the Colorado mountains.
Brindle, an Odessan, said he lost his Samsung flip phone in July 2011 near Grand Junction, Colo., long since forgotten as seasons passed and he heard nothing about the phone.
But a couple weeks ago, Brindle's son received a call -- someone found the phone.
"I was surprised. It had been quite a while ago that that thing had been lost," he said. "Of course, I was excited about it because I was kinda wanting to get my phone back."
Although he does not know the name of the person who found the phone, as it was sent with only a return address and not a name, Brindle is thankful for the highway worker and his wife who sent it back.
"The person that sent it was honest enough to find the phone number on that phone, and I'm sure they had to charge it up some way or another," he said.
Brindle said he sent some money to the person who found it as a thank-you.
As for the old phone, which is only missing the battery cover, he said he plans to take it to Verizon and ask for a new cover.
He won't be using the old phone, however.
"I think what I'm going to do is keep it around as a souvenir or just a piece to talk about," Brindle said.
