External Affairs Minister Visits Taiwan

The Honourable Alva R. Baptiste, Minister for External Affairs, International Trade and Civil Aviation, will leave the island on Friday, 22 March 2013 for the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The visit, which has been described by the resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) His Excellency James C.P. Chang as "a fact-finding journey to my country..." will conclude on Saturday 30 March 2013.
During this visit, Minister Baptiste will pay a courtesy call on His Excellency Ma Ying-Jeou the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Honourable David Y.L. Lin, Minister of Foreign Affairs. In addition, the Minister will meet with other high ranking officials such as the Minister of Transportation and Communications, the Minister of Economic Affairs, the Director General of Civil Aeronautics and Administration, and the President and CEO of Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
Minister Baptiste will also visit centres that contribute to the economic life-blood of Taiwan such as the Taipei Songshan International Airport and Aviation Training Institute, and the Hsinchu Science and Industrial Park, which is one of the world's most significant areas for semiconductor manufacturing.
This visit, which was prompted by an invitation from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), is an effort to continue the strengthening of the relationship between Saint Lucia and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
