Rogers launches Smart Home Monitoring in Ontario

Rogers Communications, a Canadian communications and media company, has launched Rogers Smart Home Monitoring, a home security and home automation control system, to residents of Ontario's Golden Horseshoe.
Rogers Smart Home Monitoring allows customers to control and automate their home security, lights, cameras, thermostats and appliances remotely through their smartphone, computer or tablet, the company said.

"Since we launched a year and a half ago, our customers continue to discover new system features that keep their homes and families secure while helping them better manage their daily lives for ultimate peace of mind."
The system remotely monitors everything together from water leaks, carbon monoxide levels, cameras, lighting, appliances and thermostat temperatures, and allows customers to customize automation rules to their needs, the company added.
According to the company, a customer is able to detect a water leak early and prevent flooding in their basement, and come home to a warm house every day by timing the thermostat through their smartphone, or receive an alert on their smartphone when their kids have arrived home from school, Smart Home Monitoring offers customers a truly connected home experience.
At the heart of the system is a touchpad that provides access to home automation apps, multimedia apps for photos, traffic, weather and sports, and home security functions. When an alarm occurs, the touchpad instantly connects with the Rogers Central Monitoring Station, a 24/7, real-time monitoring service provided by certified security experts, the company reported.
