BMA Affordable Assisted Living Community to Host Sheep Shearing Demonstration

Bradley, Illinois, Apr 06, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Heritage Woods of Dwight, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting a Sheep Shearing demonstration at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9.

The community, which is located at 701 E. Mazon in Dwight, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

Harold Davis of Odell, Illinois, will be demonstrating his sheep shearing skills.

"Harold has spent his life raising and shearing sheep," says Becky Gish, Director of Resident Services for Heritage Woods of Dwight. ""He also will be answering questions and providing useful information about sheep and wool." "Our community provides older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Peg Spear, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods. "Residents benefit from living in a residential apartment-home environment and receiving personal assistance and help with medications." Each of the private studio and one-bedroom apartments at Heritage Woods features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, and an emergency alert system.

Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and participate in social activities such as the Sheep Shearing demonstration," says Spear.

The community is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program and is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., of Bradley, Illinois.

BMA is the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

"Our focus," says Rod Burkett, President and CEO of BMA, is to provide residents with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve in addition to the help and assistance that they need.
