ProVest's General Counsel Receives CIPP/US Certification

TAMPA, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

ProVest, a leading legal services firm with more than two decades of experience, specializing in managing the delivery of legal documents and related foreclosure services, constantly provides opportunities for its staff to receive the latest in training regarding security and privacy. Karen Kelly, general counsel at ProVest, is now a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

The CIPP program started in 2004 and is the first professional certification to be offered in information privacy. Today, it remains the IAPP's single largest education program with several thousand CIPP/US-certified professionals. To receive CIPP recognition, Kelly joined IAPP and passed the certification foundation exam, whch tested her understanding of the fundamental concepts of privacy and data protection. She then passed the CIPP/US exam.

"At ProVest, we believe furthering our teams' education is paramount to success, and we encourage them to take advantage of opportunities to increase their knowledge in this rapidly changing industry of privacy," said Jim Ward, president of ProVest. "Not only has Karen obtained this designation, but she has encouraged her team members to do so as well. She has a keen understanding of the laws and rules surrounding data services so our clients can be confident in our ability to provide the best services possible for their needs."

To uphold her certification, Kelly must complete annual continuing education requirements by attending seminars, classes and other privacy industry events. She joined ProVest in 2008 and has been committed to her ongoing legal and privacy education during the last few years.

Kelly commented, "Obtaining this certification was important to me, because it is privacy-specific and there are numerous complicated and evolving laws focused on privacy. I wanted to make sure I had a solid understanding of all of them and how they intersect with each other. The privacy industry today is moving at a rapid pace, and it is imperative professionals stay informed and trained to keep up with the changes."

Kelly is a licensed attorney in Florida, New York and Washington, D.C. She received her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Fla.
