SCORE Fairfield County sets networking workshops


NORWALK, Jul 23, 2013 (The Hour - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- SCORE Fairfield County and The Rowayton Library will hold the free workshop, "Business & Bagels Series: Networking for REAL Results!" from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, with light breakfast at The Rowayton Library at 33 Highland Ave.



Presenter Stanley Witkow, SCORE Counselor, is former General Counsel of GE Capital IT Solutions. He has been mentoring and providing career counseling since 2008 helping clients develop compelling stories about themselves and setting achievable goals.

-- SCORE Fairfield County will hold a Business Preparedness and Disaster Recovery workshop from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., with registration starting at 8 a.m., in the McManus Room, Westport Library, 20 Jesup Road.


Are you fully prepared for Storm Season- power out, trees down, roads blocked and floods? Faciliated by SCORE, participants will learn: the full extent of business continuity; the specifics of computer and information systems back up; the essentials of "disaster" insurance; the availability of local emergency services; the restoration services available (if disaster strikes) and some lessons learned from Sandy.

-- SCORE Fairfield County and The Westport Library will also hold the free workshop, "Client Relationship Mastery: Client Retention Practices for Today's Competitive Business Landscape," from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, with check-in starting at 5:30 p.m., at Westport Library at 20 Jesup Road.

The speaker will be Denise Graziano, president of Graziano Associates and author of Once a Client, Always a Client. She helps clients maximize their marketing, branding, client relationships, employee rewards, sales promotion and trade show performance.

-- SCORE Fairfield County will also hold a free workshop "Business Preparedness and Disaster Recovery" from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, in the Community Room at Norwalk City Hall. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Participants will learn: the full extent of business continuity; the specifics of computer and information systems back up; the essentials of disaster insurance; the availability of local emergency services; and the restoration services available.

Speakers will include representatives from Agility Recovery, Servepro, emergency personnel, and business technology personnel.

-- SCORE Fairfield County will also hold the free workshop, "Stop Leaking Cash -- Simple Methods for Improving Operations," from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, with check-in starting at 5:30 p.m., at Stamford Innovation Center, 175 Atlantic St.

Reducing costs is several times more effective in increasing profits than increasing sales or raising prices. The speakers will be John Harmon, SCORE volunteer and managing director of Adulant Consulting Services; Thomas F. McCabe, managing director of W.W. Mentorprises, Inc. (WWM), and Andy Jawlik, managing director at Jawlik and Associates, LLC.
