SEVEN Networks Announces Promotion of Two Senior Technology Executives [Global Data Point]

(Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SEVEN® Networks, a technology leader in mobile traffic management and optimization software, today announced the promotion of two senior technology executives, Chaitali Sengupta and Ari Backholm. In her new position as chief technology officer (CTO), Sengupta will be responsible for SEVEN Networks product strategy, system architecture and new technology. She will work closely with the engineering team to drive new product development and delivery. She will also lead the product management team, whose responsibilities include product roadmaps, new product requirements and PRDs.

Previously, Sengupta was CTO and co-founder of SNRLabs, which was acquired by SEVEN Networks earlier this year. Before that she was a distinguished member of the technical staff at Texas Instruments, and was named to the MIT Technology Review list of the 100 Top Innovators Under 35. She holds a PhD in electrical engineering from Rice University and a bachelor of technology degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur.

"SEVEN Networks is in a unique position to address real market needs in the mobile traffic management domain," said Sengupta. "I am pleased to take on this expanded role and to lead the development of new technology for the company's impending push into standards-based policy-driven network access selection techniques, such as ANDSF." Ari Backholm has been promoted to senior vice president of analytics and market development. Backholm has been with SEVEN Networks since 2005, and has played a central role in the design and development of the company's Open Channel family of mobile traffic management and optimization software. Before SEVEN Networks, Backholm was co-founder and executive vice president of Smartner Information Systems, and also served as research director for Sedecon Consulting. He has a master's degree in technology strategy and international business from Helsinki University of Technology in his native Finland.

"The Open Channel product line has been inherently data-driven from the start," said Backholm. "Our data analytics engine puts us in a very strong position to provide mobile operators with deeper insight into what is happening in their networks. Mobile data analytics is a natural expansion path for SEVEN Networks, and it will enhance our Open Channel product portfolio." Both executives report to Ross Bott, SEVEN Networks president and CEO.

"These promotions are significant within the SEVEN Networks organization," Bott said. "Our product development teams have devoted great energy to creating innovative, high-value products for our customers, and we anticipate that these two strong contributors will be crucial to our ongoing success."
