TV and Radio Broadcasting in China Industry Research Report - Now Available from IBISWorld
San Francisco, CA, Aug 18, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
In the five years through 2013, revenue for the TV and Radio Broadcasting industry in China is expected to increase at an annualized rate of 12.5%, driven by the accelerating convergence of national telecommunications, internet, and cable TV network operations. In 2013, revenue is expected to reach $5.6 billion, says IBISWorld.
There are two major revenue sources for the TV and Radio Broadcasting industry in China: advertising and cable network services. Revenue from the top four firms - Beijing Gehua CATV Network, CITIC Group, Hunan TV & Broadcast Intermediary, and Shaanxi Broadcasting & TV Network Intermediary - account for about 24.1% of total industry revenue in 2013. The majority of companies within the industry are controlled and managed by provincial and prefecture-level governments. This limits the size and scope of the companies and the geographic regions they can operate in. These factors also contribute to the fragmented nature of the industry.
Analog broadcasting is set to end in 2017, and so far, less than 30.0% of cable TV users have converted to cable DTV. As such, the number of digital TV (DTV) subscribers is expected to increase strongly in China, says IBISWorld, which will support future revenue growth for the industry.
