U.S. Embassy Assists Accounting Reforms in Turkmenistan
(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Aug. 12 -- The U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan issued the following news release:
Today a month-long course on International Financial Reporting Standards for extractive industries commenced at the Turkmengaz State Company's Research Institute of Oil and Gas. The course, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and ExxonMobil, is tailored to accountants and financial experts from Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry and seeks to augment the Government of Turkmenistan-initiated reform of the national accounting system.
Over the next month, 20 accountants and financial experts from Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector will learn about the International Financial Reporting Standards used in the international oil and gas industry and become better prepared for the transition to National Financial Reporting Standards. At the completion of the five-week program, participants will also be able to understand and work with financial statements of international extractive companies.
