Agribank Honours Corporate Social Responsibility
(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) AgriBank honoured its corporate social responsibility when it last week handed farming equipment worth N$29 789 to a communal farmer and cheques worth N$7 000 to a local school and one of the farmers' associations in the region.
Kanyanga Primary School and Nepara Farmers Association received cash donations of N$2 000 and N$7 000 respectively from AgriBank's Rundu branch. The bank also donated a computer to the Rudolf Ngondo Primary School.
Accepting the cheque for Kanyanga Primary School, Deputy Director of Education for Kavango, Fanuel Kapapero, lauded the agricultural bank for remembering the education sector. "These funds will help the school to buy stationery and other educational material that will enable it to deliver education," said Kapapero.
The principal of Rudolf Ngondo Primary School, Veronica Thikusho, also commended AgriBank for assisting her school. "I am really surprised that our school has been chosen as a beneficiary today but I am thankful at the same time. We need computers at the school," she said.
Communal farmer, Paulus Ndumba, heaped praise on the bank for the assistance, and indicated that the equipment would not only help him but the entire region as he will be able to employ some of his fellow villagers on his horticulture farm.
Ndumba is a communal farmer at Katondo village in the Mashare constituency. His land is 30 hectares in size that is suitable for crop production but only a small portion is currently being utilised.
"The branch considered his request as relevant and an important one, because he is one of the disadvantaged people and he will create employment for the local community and also reduce poverty within the area of Mashare," said Agribank.
