China Mobile to Start Selling iPhone by Yearend
BEIJING, Aug 19, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
China Mobile Ltd. (SEHK: 0941 and NYSE: CHL) and Apple are reported to be likely to ink agreement for selling iPhone later this year. The low-price iPhone said to be born may play an important role whether they will finally reach agreement.
Because iPhone 5 and former generations do not support TD-SCDMA, both sides have not formed cooperation still now. But, China Mobile has 740 million users, accounting for nearly 65% of the local mobile phone holders. Meanwhile, other top two telecom carriers China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050) and China Telecom Corporation Ltd. (NYSE: CHA and SEHK: 0728) are both selling iPhone.
