Stolen iPhone acted as tracking device [Brandon Sun, The (Manitoba, Canada)]
(Brandon Sun, The (Manitoba, Canada) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Maybe Big Brother isn't all bad.
After a home was broken into early this morning, police were able to track down exactly where the suspect was -- right down to the house.
Included in the items stolen from the 500 block of Victoria Avenue home was an iPhone, which essentially acted as a tracking device.
Using the "Find my iPhone" app, the owner of the phone was able to remotely login to lock the phone and track down where the thief was using GPS.
As a result, the phone was recovered late this morning by police.
Dozens of liquor bottles were also taken from a wine fridge in the home while the residents were sleeping after the suspects broke in through a window which didn't trigger the home's alarm system.
However, the alarm did go off when the thieves left the house through a door.
A cooler with the stolen bottles was also found a short distance away from the home.
According to Brandon police, the matter is still under investigation.
