(Guardian (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Former Marks & Spencer clothing boss Kate Bostock (below) is to become chief executive of the fashion chain Coast. Bostock left the online retailer Asos in July after seven months. She spent eight years with M&S, and previously held senior roles at Next and Asda's fashion label, George. Derek Lovelock, chairman of Coast, which has 370 stores in 26 countries, said: "Kate has a natural affinity with the brand." Bostock said: "I like lots of things about the brand. I like its confidence and heritage." She said Coast had a chance to expand into a broader range of products and could also do more abroad and online. The appointment of Bostock is likely to raise speculation that Coast is looking for new owners, but it is understood there are no plans to sell the business at this stage.
