Wavelink Releases Terminal Emulation Support for iOS

Aug 23, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Wavelink announced the release of Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) for iOS.

According to a release, TE for iOS provides secure data and host application access for iOS mobile device users. This latest installment of TE follows previously announced support for the Android platform.

Wavelink noted that enterprises are increasingly adopting iOS devices to take advantage of their appearance and functionality for customer-facing task workers. Modern task workers use these iOS devices as mobile POS systems as well as a multipurpose productivity tools. However, for some task workers, the mobile freedom provided by these devices can be undercut if they need to access another screen to complete tasks such as stock-lookups and delivery schedules. With the new TE for iOS, these inventory, stocking and workflow tasks are now supported on iOS devices, increasing the flexibility of enterprise mobility deployments while improving task worker efficiency and productivity.

"Terminal emulation and mobile device technology combine as core building blocks on which many companies do business," said Steve Bemis, vice president of worldwide sales at Wavelink. "With TE for iOS, in addition to our existing support of Windows and Android platforms, enterprises are empowered to make the device choices that are right for them and their task workers, whether it's an Apple device on the retail floor, an Android device in the hands of a delivery truck driver or a Windows device in the warehouse. Wavelink's platform supports all of these, eliminating the need to choose between existing systems and new device technology." Wavelink, a business unit of LANDesk Software, is a provider of multi-vendor mobile device management, wireless infrastructure management, terminal emulation, voice enabling and mobile application development solutions.
