BRIEF: Black Gold selling branded potato product [Grand Forks Herald]
(Grand Forks Herald (ND) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 23--Grand Forks-based potato company Black Gold Farms is marketing a new supermarket product.
The company, better known for servicing the potato chip industry, said it aims to promote potatoes as an easy-to-prepare side dish with the new product.
The product will consist of potatoes in 24-ounce plastic packages featuring one of three McCormick-brand seasoning mixes: roasted Italian herbs, roasted onion and garlic, and roasted garlic and rosemary.
Home cooks would cube the potatoes, toss them with oil and the seasonings, and bake them.
The packages are labeled with the brands of Black Gold Farms and McCormick. They are part of Black Gold's "Better with Reds" campaign to market red potatoes as value-added produce items, the company said.
Black Gold owns farms in North Dakota and nine other states.
