Business: Postscript: Microsoft boss finally learns to switch off
(Observer (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mention the name of Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer and most people automatically think of the notorious presentation he gave to the tech firm's employees back in 2000. Bounding onto the stage, he yelled: "Give it up for me! Whoooaaa! Come on!" before struggling to compose himself and panting: "I have four words for you. I love this company."
On Friday, it emerged that he now has five words, which are: "I retire from this company." Ballmer will be stepping down within the year, so the search for a successor to take over the software giant has begun.
After revisiting the mania of his cameo 13 years ago via YouTube, there will be many still surprised that the hunt didn't start back then.
