China's MOST sets about 5G system R&D
BEIJING, Aug 27, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's Ministry of Science and
Technology (MOST) on Wednesday announced that it had convened a
project review meeting on the first phase research and development of
5th-generation mobile telecom system (5G) here.
According to the ministry, 5G system research and development was
targeting at meeting the mobile telecommunication demands in 2020.
The technologies involved in the research and development would
include the 5G network system structure, the wireless network
construction, the wireless transmission, the new-model antenna and
radio frequency, and the development and application of new frequency
The research and development work would also include the
performance evaluation and prototype system design of 5G network,
which would support a general speed of 10Gbps and 10 times higher air
interface spectral efficiency and power efficiency than 4G network.
The ministry encouraged enterprises to lead the 5G system research
and development and combined the research with production, learning
