ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 29 -- AE Solutions, Greenville, S.C., has been assigned a patent (8,521,676) developed by six co-inventors for a "system to build, analyze and manage a real world model in software of a safety instrumented system architecture for safety instrumented systems in a facility." The co-inventors are Carolyn Crosby Presgraves, Anderson, S.C., John Weldon Kelley, Anchorage, Alaska, Cody O'Neal Wyndham Gentry, Greenville, S.C., Kenneth James O'Malley Jr., Simpsonville, S.C., Michael Dean Scott, Anchorage, Alaska, and Brian Dudley Merriman, Anchorage, Alaska.
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A computerized system to computer generate, manage, analyze, or combinations thereof, a real world model in software of a safety instrumented system (SIS) architecture for SIS in a facility, wherein the SIS architecture for SIS in a facility comprises at least one instrumented protective function (IPF) and wherein the system to computer generate a software model is in support of process safety lifecycle management."
