JLR creates unified marketing team [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)]
(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mumbai: Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has gone for a recast of the management executive committee in an attempt to align the marketing and leadership structure for the two luxury brands.
"As part of the changes, Jaguar Land Rover will create a unified marketing and sales leadership structure for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, whilst also creating dedicated resources in strategy development and processes," the company said in a statement.
The UK-based manufacturer is hashing out common synergies between the two brands as it goes for an ambitious push for the global market. It has already announced its plans of investing £2.75 billion in its product portfolio and facilities for the current fiscal.
As part of the reshuffle, Phil Popham, currently the director of group sales operations, will become group marketing director for JLR, while Andy Goss, currently president JLR North America, will become group sales operations director with responsibility for global sales and customer service. Adrian Hallmark, now the global brand director for Jaguar, will play a new role of group strategy director, while John Edwards, currently global brand director for Land Rover, will move to a new role in the senior management team.
Jaguar is better known for its luxurious sporty cars while Land Rover has a stable of luxury sports utility vehicles, with different dealerships in markets, including the UK. Analysts said a unified strategy and changes in the management team will help forge common synergies between the companies in areas like products, brand positioning and customer service.
"Both brands are luxury brands. There are certain efficiencies that the company can bring, if they combine together. With this, it will also help the company in cost savings, instead of running two separate teams," said Mohit Arora, executive director of JD Power.
