A.M. BestTV: Factors that Impact Product Creditworthiness Evolving
OLDWICK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
This A.M. BestTV episode takes a look at product creditworthiness, an
aspect A.M. Best considers in assessing a company's financial strength,
and how over time perspectives on risk characteristics can change. A.M.
Best issued its first report on product creditworthiness in 2008 to
increase transparency by looking at the risk characteristics
incorporated into A.M. Best's ratings analysis. Since then, the U.S.
life/annuity and health industries have expanded its array of product
offerings, driven by events that have pervaded the social, economic,
legal and regulatory environment since 2008. Assistant Vice President
Thomas Rosendale said A.M. Best's view of product creditworthiness
allows the company "to better understand the risks associated with the
products that they sell and the impact that those risks have on the
predictability of the cash flows and their profitability." Assistant
Vice President Joseph Zazzera discussed what factors affect product
credit analysis, including design, regulatory and legal issues and how
competitve the environment is. Click on http://www.ambest.com/v.asp?v=productrisk813
