(Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) As an example of its dedication to the people of the UAE by supporting community initiatives, telecom provider du has announced its sponsorship of the Fujairah Police's Ajyal Al Shurta (Youth Development) initiative for the fourth consecutive year.
The programme, which is organised by the Directorate-General of Fujairah Police and runs until September 5, has attracted the participation of 215 students from Grades 7 to 9 from Al Fujairah Educational Zone. The programme encourages students to direct their energies to useful activities over the summer holidays.
du's sponsorship comes in line with the company's dedication to improving the quality of health, fitness and well-being in the community. This in turn is part of the nationwide wellness initiative, 'Every Step Counts', which was launched by the company in July taking inspiration from by the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
"Fujairah Police's 'Ajyal Al Shurta' initiative is proof of the significant roles that companies can play in supporting, serving and improving the welfare of their community. The 'Ajyal Al Shurta' programme has been organised since 2003 under the guidance of His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. To date, more than 2,000 young Emiratis have participated in the programme which has had a great influence on their educational and professional choices.
