Escape to enjoy [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]
(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) CELCOM Axiata Bhd recently launched Escape, a personal entertainment space which allows subscribers to enjoy various forms of content created, produced and packaged to suit a digital mobile lifestyle.
Subscribers can watch movies, television series, life broadcasts and events in high resolution, with a unique pause and play feature across multiple devices, such as smartphone, tablet, notebook and PC, as long as they are connected to the internet.
Subscribers can pay for billable content via their Celcom postpaid or prepaid accounts or credit cards. The service is available to both postpaid and prepaid customers.
Users can opt to register via Facebook or a valid Celcom mobile number at the Escape website at www.ESCnow.com.
The service will be available for Android and iOS devices as a free downloadable app.
Asus means business
MODELS showing off Asus' new line of business notebook and ultrabook at a launch in Kuala Lumpur last week. The Taiwan PC maker launched AsusPro series - the B Advanced ultrabook and P Essential notebook.
Designed for professional users, the BU400 is powered by third generation Intel Core processors with NVIDIA GeForce 5200 video graphics hardware. It comes with a spill-resistant keyboard as well as fingerprint and facial recognition log-ins.
Meanwhile, the AsusPro Essential P45 is designed to support the small and medium-sized business (SME) users and comes with third Generation Intel Core processors and Super Hybrid Engine II that is said to give the notebook a 14-day standby time. The B Advanced ultrabook and P Essential notebook are available now at RM3,599 and RM3,099 respectively.
New baby in Canon stable
IN Kuching recently, Hong Kong superstar and Canon ambassador Simon Yam and models showed off the new Canon's new EOS 70D dSLR at an event to launch the camera.
Also present were Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd president and director of the Imaging Communication Products Division Donny Ling.
The EOS 70D features the newly-developed Dual Pixel CMOS AF system working in tandem with an initiative vari-angle 3.0-inch wide clear view LCD II touchscreen monitor.
The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system boasts swift and precise auto focusing with greatly reduced focusing time while the vari-angle LCD panel, with its touchscreen capability, allows users to explore and shoot different compositions and perspectives.
The EOS 70D also features a high-precision 19-point all cross- type AF sensor, which is able to accurately track subjects even if they move unpredictably.
Yam demonstrated a feature of the new model - remote control shooting, which enables the smartphone screen to become an extension of the camera's live view screen.
The EOS 70D is available at all Canon authorised dealers and priced at RM3,899 (body only), RM4,399 (EFs 18-55 STM), RM5,299 (EFs 18-135 STM) and RM5,499 (EFs 18-200 IS).
MMU gets stylish
MULTIMEDIA University (MMU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with Smart Networking Marketing for the Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) pageant recently.
This will enable the pageant organisers to take advantage of cutting edge multimedia applications and the latest technologies to better deliver their offering to demanding audiences. For MMU, it is an opportunity to expose its students and academicians to the specifics of deploying technology to particular industries, making them more valuable as employers and consultants.
MMU was represented by its president, Professor Datuk Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad and Smart Networking Marketing by its president Jason Hee Jee Pin.
On hand to witness the signing was Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Dr. James Dawos Mamit.
